Most people, once they have an auto insurance company,
simply just let their current policy renew and renew without
checking to see if maybe they can get a better deal
somewhere else.
If that describes you, maybe you would look
into exploring your options if you knew how and painless it
really is. This article will show you just how easy the
process is.
Shopping for a new auto insurance company
The easiest and quickest and as a result the most painless
way to shop for auto insurance is to go on the internet.
Many companies can give you quotes 24/7 on their websites.
You can also get contact information for a particular auto
insurance company on their site and call them up on the
telephone.
When considering switching companies, the first
thing to do is to get comparison rate quotes from several
companies.
You do want to be very truthful about all your information
so that you can get accurate quotes.
The company will find
out about any accidents, claims or traffic tickets anyway,
so don't try to hide anything.
Also, when you get
comparison rate quotes, make sure you compare the coverage
you have with your current auto insurance company to what is
available with any new company so that you can make a
comparison that makes sense.
How to switch
Once you have found a new auto insurance company and
purchased your new policy you must cancel your old policy.
If you don't cancel your old policy the old auto insurance
company could assume you wished to continue your insurance
with them.
They would be expecting to receive premiums from
you.
When they don't receive those premiums they would
eventually cancel your policy due to unpaid premiums and
report your lack of coverage to the Department of Motor
Vehicles of your state.
This could affect your credit and
your ability to get a new auto insurance policy.
Canceling your old policy is easy.
Usually, all you need to do is to inform your old auto
insurance company in writing, telling them when you would
like the policy cancelled.
They will then send you a form
to sign and return, which in effect will cancel your policy.
One thing to note
Do not cancel your policy from your old auto insurance
company until the insurance is actually in effect with the
new insurer.
This way you avoid any lapse in coverage.
However, nowadays there is little chance of that happening.
Most states require all drivers to carry a minimum amount of
insurance and your old auto insurance company will probably
require you to show proof of insurance before they will
cancel an active policy.
When you switch is very important
The best time to switch to a new auto insurance company is
when the current policy is about to expire.
When you
receive your policy renewal notice from your current auto
insurance company is the best time to switch.
This is
usually about a month before the current policy is actually
going to expire.
It is during this period when you can
switch insurers without incurring any fees or penalties.
Also, because it is so close to the end of the policy term
you would avoid trying to figure out the amount of unused
premium that you are due from your old auto insurance
company.
You also avoid arguing with your insurance agent
about exactly when you cancelled and how much the auto
insurance company owes you.
But yes, you can cancel outside of the 30 day period
If after taking into account the fee or penalty you may have
to pay you may find that you still would get appreciable
savings. So, while it is best you switch within that 30 day
renewal period, you can actually cancel at any time.
Are you ready?
That's all there is to it. Just think of all that extra
money that could be coming your way if you follow these
simple guidelines.

Cheap Insurance - Ten Tips
by: Steve Gillman
Cheap insurance? Auto insurance, life insurance, health insurance, liability insurance - whatever type of insurance you need, you can buy it for less. Try the following:
1. Raise you deductible. Why have a $100 deductible if a $1000 deductible won't break you? It may hurt to pay the first thousand someday, but what if meanwhile you saved several thousand? High deductibles mean lower rates. Of course, get quotes with various deductibles, to be sure you're saving enough for the higher risk.
2. Lower your coverage. Insurance agents secretly admit that people usually get sued according to policy limits. You'll be sued for more if your limit is a million than if it's a hundred thousand. A judgement beyond the policy limits is a scary thought, but this can happen no matter what your limits are. If you don't have many assets or much money in the bank, consider lowering your coverage to save money....

The Truth About Cheap Quotes
by: Evan Davis
Looking for low cost health insurance quotes? Good. You are taking that most important step of shopping around for the best price. But more importantly, you undstand that it is important to have health insurance, and perhaps, even more importantly, understand that the real purpose of health insurance, as for any insurance, is protection. That is, you do not get health insurance to act as a sort of discount off the price of doctor and hospital services. The point of insurance is protection in the event of catastrophe. Yes, health insurance costs are high and continue to rise, but do not forget that the reason you are seeking health insurance quotes online--and even offline--is to insure you get the most protection (not discount) for the best (lowest) rate.
Getting health insurance quotes is now extremely easy with the use of the Internet. Take advantage of online insurance...

Using the Autograph for Cheaper Car Insurance
by: Joseph Kenny
What if your motor insurance provider told you that you could get up to 25 percent discounted from your next car insurance policy simply by showing them that you were a safe driver?
It would sound obvious won?t it - after all, basically, isn?t that what a no claims bonus is all about?
Well, you can guess again, because with the new ?autograph? device getting up to 25 percent discounted on your car insurance policy in the years to come is going to be a very real experience!
What Is The Autograph?
Basically, an ?autograph? is a device that you ask a garage to plug into the diagnostic part of your car (which can be found underneath your steering wheel).
The autograph will then record all of your driving skills, including how fast you drive, your average speed, whether or not you need to suddenly break (and, if so, how often), the times of the day that...
Life Insurance
by: Gary Tallon
The life insurance market in the UK is extremely competitive. Over the last 5 - 10 years more and more insurance companies have been entering the life insurance market providing consumers with a huge range of life insurance products to go after. Even the big supermarkets like Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda now offer cheap life insurance products, often using their own brand goods as advertising space to get their message across to their legions of customers.
Such is the level of competition, a basic term life insurance policy can now cost as little as ?5 per month for a young and healthy non-smoker. Life insurance costs though will vary significantly depending upon age, lifestyle and occupation. They will also vary between different life insurance providers, as not all providers evaluate the risk of the life to be insured in the same way.

Dental Insurance
by: Jakob Jelling
Dental insurance may be less effective than dental plans, but it is usually offered free.
Don't wait until you already have problems with your teeth to get dental insurance! Instead, you should get dental insurance as soon as you can.
One reason for this involves the things that can go wrong with your teeth - and the other reason is that usually this insurance will also cover the costs of bi-yearly check ups to make sure that your teeth are still strong and healthy.
Dental insurance is slightly different than most dental plans since you will have to get it through your employer. Dental insurance is not usually offered to individuals, and is instead offered to major companies. If you are offered this insurance through your employer, then you should take it since it will be either free or very cheap, and is definitely worth it if you can get it.
That being said, there are some disadvantages...

Life Insurance Coverage
by: Ivon T. Hughes
The subject of life insurance can be a confusing one and we spend a lot of time discussing various ways to buy life insurance. How much do I need? How much will it cost? Will my beneficiaries have enogh to live comfortably? What is the difference between cash-value and term life insurance? Which is the cheapest to buy?
CASH VALUE LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES
Cash value life insurance, such as universal and whole life, combine a death benefit and a tax deferred saving element. Occasionally referred to as permanent life insurance, these types of policies are intended to cover you for your lifetime.
Annual premiums for cash value policies generally are higher than those of term life policies as part of each premium pays for insurance and the remainder is invested. Cash value is what you can borrow from the policy or receive by surrendering it. These funds are ideal for retirement planning and college...
